Margie began thinking about Emotion Work during researching her Honours Thesis in 2008. Fast forward to 2022, and AGOSCI in Hobart Australia. Margie had a brief opportunity to share her thoughts on Emotion Work in relation to mental health and people with communication disabilities. Margie’s interest in emotion work in relation to people living with communication disabilities, stems from her own good and bad experiences of practising Emotion Work. In sharing her own experiences, Margie hopes that it becomes clear that not only are people with communication disabilities doing Emotion Work, but they do so over and above that of people without communication disabilities. Margie is the Communication Access Consultant and Trainer at Two Way Street. She lives with her Purr Girl “Charlie”, enjoys going to watch amateur theatre, live sport, with good friends and a great red.
