Professional Bio
Laura is mum to two children with Angelman syndrome who have complex communication needs. Early in the children’s lives Laura realised AAC success needed to be a priority. Laura has worked in partnership with Gemma, her children’s speech therapist, for many years and has been heavily involved in her children’s AAC goal planning, customisation of their devices and extending their AAC use over time. Laura has previously been the President of Angelman Syndrome Association Australia. More recently Laura has used her lived experience to work as part of the Learning my Language team to educate families about AAC use.
