Professional Bio

Cathy is the Principal of St. Patrick’s Special School in Adelaide, where she leads a dedicated team in providing exceptional education for students from Reception to Year 12 with complex diagnoses and needs. Her career began in a remote area of South Australia, where she first immersed herself in Aboriginal education. This pivotal experience led to her role as Principal of two remote Aboriginal communities, where she made a significant impact on educational outcomes. With a career spanning diverse educational roles, Cathy has served as a Kindergarten Director, University Liaison, and Behaviour Consultant within Catholic Education South Australia for eight years. Her extensive experience also includes leadership in mainstream schools, but her true passion lies in Diversity and Inclusion. Cathy is deeply committed to fostering an educational environment of excellence at St. Patrick’s Special School, which is distinguished by its profound care and dedication. Cathy is passionate about the role of Allied Health in schools and deeply values the professional expertise they bring to the educational setting. She collaborates closely with them to enhance the strategic direction of the school. Under her leadership, the school has flourished, and she has built and nurtured a dynamic leadership team that engages actively at local, national, and international levels. Her approach ensures that St. Patrick’s remains at the forefront of innovative educational practices and inclusion.
